Full of fun and nostalgia, just enough blood and gore to satisfy without overdoing it, these stories draw you into a world of October nighttime, all glowing pumpkins and scuttling leaves, laughing as you scamper along the sidewalk but also keeping a wary eye on the deep shadows beyond the houses. - 2.0 out of 5 stars from Artem44 -- Some good ideas but many too short, disappointing endings : Writing style is good but many of the stories have an abrupt and anti-climactic ending. A couple don't make sense and feel rushed. The page count is already short and 3 of the stories are personal reflections. I found one of the personal reflections ridiculous. The author had a group of youths force their way into his house as a child, likely to rob and perhaps hurt the occupants. They were chased off by his father but he makes a bizarre excuse for the thugs and says it's probably because MLK Jr was just assassinated. Strange attempt at identity politics or I don't know what. I am a fan Ronald Kelly's work, so I decided this would be a good to read since it is the Halloween season and the collection is short enough to keep my attention, and boy am I glad I did. Gray -- Ronald Kelly is he man! : I liked most of the stories in the collection, but Mister Mack & the Monster Mobile and Mister Glow-Bones were a cut above the rest! I’d suggest this collection for an October read, for it is spooky and full of stories that will give you goosebumps!
